and all Americans, we have in our midst a very dangerous person who is
spreading prejudice and hatred and talk of a resistance movement to
thousands of listeners everyday on his show, The Mark Shannon Show, from
4pm to 7pm Monday through Friday on AM 1000 KTOK, Oklahoma City.
Not
only is the former disc-jockey-gone-talk-show-host spewing his hatred
and lack of tolerance for blacks, Mexicans, the poor, abused women, gays
and lesbians, overweight people, the
elderly, and our new president, but he is inciting his listeners with
his hate speech to despise them as well, and to start some kind of
resistance movement against our own government.
My
one call to Shannon’s producer regarding his on-air hate speech
produced nothing, but for him to quickly
get me off the line, as I expressed my disagreement of allowing his
on-air comments of hatred and sarcasm spoken to incite disdain and
prejudicial treatment toward older Americans, minority groups, abused
women, overweight people, gays and lesbians – most of which are
protected by federal law against discrimination and hate speech.
Some
of
Shannon
’s recent on-air comments have included:

“No Habla Espanol” he used to state loudly in a sarcastic
tone which used to open his show, openly promoting his dislike of
mexicans, which he often continues to express on the air.
Overweight
women just sit home at night and eat donuts and are “losers,”just
one of several comments
Shannon
has made about large women.
Hurricane
Katrina was a good thing, because “sometimes you just have to flush
the toilet to get rid of ….”
Laughing
about older singer Ray Price performing in our town and saying on-air,
“I guess there are still people around who would want to see him,”
making fun of Mr. Price still performing at his age and that anyone
would actually want to attend his concert.
Defending
male abusers on one show he stated that “first-time domestic abuse by
a male should not become a felony”
Joked
on the air on Martin Luther King day that, “it would have been funny
to go down to the parade and ask when Martin Luther King’s birthday
really was, because none of “them” probably even know.
Stated
on-air with a male white caller on Martin Luther King Day that the rest
of the year should be “white male months.”
Railed
on the air against the
El Reno
,
Oklahoma
woman and her four children who
were murdered by her boyfriend that it was her fault for bringing a
felon into her home. Even practically defending the perpetrator on the
day of the woman and children’s funerals, stating that the
responsibility for what happened fell on her….not the man….
Stated
on the air on January 19th, defending his prejudice hate speech that,
“There are reasons we have stereotypes.
We need them,” when discussing profiling individuals.
Laughed
on the air that environmentalists are just “people without lives.”
Classified
on one of his shows lesbians as just being “women who wear ugly
shoes.”
Made
the comment on-air against Katrina victims on January 29th
with another white male caller who agrees with
Shannon
’s biggoted views, that, “all the people who got government money
from Katrina spent it on big screens and tatoos.”
After that was when
Shannon
made the comment that the hurrican was good because it “flushed the
toilet.”
Had
another white male caller who joked about his son attending the
inauguration of our new President and that if
Shannon
looked close at a picture he has of it, “he is the white guy in the
crowd.”
On
his same radio show,
Shannon
classified the “older black speakers at the inauguration were just
dinosaurs.”
How
much more of Mark Shannon’s biggoted hate speech should we tolerate?
I say not one more day. I
am contacting the agencies, organizations and individuals listed on page
1, with a copy of this letter, and I urge you to contact KTOK and their
advertisers as well with your own comments, especially if you have
listened to Shannon’s show before or will take the time to listen and
see for yourself what KTOK is allowing on the air.
I
urge you to listen to Mark Shannon, make your own judgement, and call
KTOK to get him stopped or off of the air.
I believe he owes minorities, abused women, overweight people,
and the elderly apologies for his unacceptable speech.
His resistance movement against the government does not seem to
have taken off, but don’t underestimate this hate-filled man’s
ability to incite his other mostly-white, male listeners to take action
against the groups and the government.
While
Mr. Shannon uses his unfortunate diagnosis of cancer on the air as an
insight into his behavior and for empathy toward him, I believe that no
matter what challenges we face in life, hate speech like his is NEEDS TO
BE STOPPED. With your phone
calls/emails to KTOK, I hope we can accomplish this. We may not all
disagree with Shannon 100%, but I think we can all agree that hate
speech and inciting others toward prejudice is wrong ,100%.

Some of this letter is completely inaccurate, but then, you can't make

THE MASSES SAY!
Martina
is not a happy "person". Most Liberals aren't but Martina has
a "Hate Thing " going at the same time. She hates the USA, She
thinks that the USA is treating the prisoners at Gitmo inhumanely. She
suffers from Bush Hater Derangement and thinks that the USA is a war
mongering Nation. Martina is dependant on the Government and receives
checks from at least one Government agency. She also suffers from
diabetes from being overweight from not taking care of herself. I hope
to God she doesn't have children but may have one or two. She doesn't
have a whole lot of friends because some of her wild tandems scare them
although she does have a few that like to incite her to write letters
and be vocal in between some of their getting high times. She says alot
of this garbage so the weirdos will like her, some attention grabbing
headlines makes her feel important and she doesn't have very many achievements
in her life. She would sell out her Country in a heart beat and anyone
around her. She seethes at your every word ,but as pointed out by
another fan letter listens to your show every day and can give dates and
some accurate quotes, but doesn't have the common sense to see the whole
picture, forget about the sense of humor, as she doesn't get it and
prays for the Fairness Doctrine, did I say pray, Martina is an Atheist
but will say she is spiritual and has probably been to the Mayflower
Congregation. Yes she voted for Obama , that is if she can vote, I don't
know if felons can vote without their records being expunged. God help
whoever is hooked up with her, for Martina is a dangerous person. Your

caught only a portion of what was said about this Martina. I read
her letter as a typical godless left wing liberal abortion loving save
the murders from death row lesbian. Who more than willing to bash our

Could not agree more with you regarding the society changes and the
trashing of the ideals and values that made the U.S. the great country

Need
to respond to the "crazy woman" that just doesn't get
it. Don't change anything you do when you are on the air. You
haven't gotten the ratings you have for being someone else.
Those of us that listen to you each day Love the show and don't
agree with this woman, (if that's what she really is), at all.
Hopefully she will read this web page and realize she needs to
get a life and go back to where ever she came from. Maybe she
needs to learn that the people of this state have their own
voice and mind and don't want someone like her talking or
thinking for us. If we could elect a Governor that is a man like
Mark Shannon this state would be better for it! Take that

Isn't
it funny how everyone always uses the First Amendment when it's
something they want to say and when it's something they don't want to
hear it is hate speech? Let's guess how many of those things apply to
her. I've heard you say almost all of it and I laughed. Of course I
heard the original version and not the twisted version she attempted to
explain. Doesn't she remind you of the class tattletale? I guess she's
never heard of sarcasm or comedy. That kind of bullshit letter is just

listen to your show everyday because you are a breath of fresh air.
I am so tired of
all the political correctness that has overtaken our
culture and it is nice to hear someone who says what he thinks. I
don’t always agree with everything you say, but it’s refreshing to
hear you say it. At least once a day you make me laugh out loud,
and that’s especially nice with the news being what it is these days.
I fit into many of the categories she listed as those that you
supposedly abuse, and I don’t feel abused. If her letter is
creating a problem for you with the station, I will do what I can to
register an opposing viewpoint with the station. Just let me know
what I can do. It is people like Martina that has made this
country into the “crybaby, don’t hurt my feelings” mess that we
now have.

I'm not a fat, white, anti-government male, but I am a white, somewhat
woman and I listen to you EVERY day!
I listened to Martina's letter and then I went back and read it. For
someone who hates you, Martina has a commanding handle on the dates, times
and "facts" of when you said what you said, the dates and times
of your topics of conversation down to what your Radio Show Starts Off
With! She must be a MAJOR Fan! Like I said, I listen EVERY
Single Day (via the Internet By the Way) and even I didn't realize your
show started with "No Habla Espanol"! Ha ha, I guess some
people are more sensitive than others and that just goes to prove that
Miss Martina has a chip on her shoulder and was LOOKING for something to
complain about. She probably listened to your show all January long
with a pencil and paper, taking notes, just so she could write that
ignorant letter! Some people will never learn!
Keep up the good job from this White, Slightly OverWeight, 38 Year Old,

Couldn't
get through to you but wanted to respond to the email from Martina.
The first thing I do when I get off of work is turn on your show, I love
it! Yeah sometimes you sounds a little angry but a lot of us are
right now. Its so nice to be able to turn on the radio and hear
there are others, like you, who feel the same way and are not
afraid to talk about it. She's another example of one of
those who can't stand others to have different opinions than her.
She's probably all for the Fairness Doctrine. Don't
give it up, your great!!!!
